I really need some help from all my brothers and sisters in this forum. We were told today by management that EVERY (union and non union) First Student location got a pay raise for the 2010-2011 school year. I find that very hard to believe seeing how tight they are with their purse strings. I know for a fact many locations last year that were non union did in fact take a wage freeze AND many also lost their bonuses.
Can anyone out there let me know if there is a location in their area that did not get a raise this school year. We are going into negotiations soon and this information could go a long way to show their lack of credibility.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

that is not true !
that is not true ! management has not had a pay increase in 3 years and the drivers at my location opted not to take an increase for the 2010-2011 school year due to the economy,as well as other terminals
Thanks for the reply. Can

I read the reply that a location took a wage freeze for the 2010/2011school year but I am puzzled as to why if it is a First Student location. The CEO, Moir Lockhead, made a statement to the Herald Newspaper in the UK that the recession had nothing to do with this business b/c children have to get to and from school. And not only is this the case, First Group just opened a multi-million dollar rail and bus terminal in the UK, something that is rare in the US by their company First Student in the US! Places taking wage freezes by choice need to investigate the finances of this company and remember that most of the contracts between FS and districts are worth approximately 30% profit to the company. With the 30% profit, it is entirely up to FS how they spend that profit or should I say share the profit.
I wish I could answer your question about any unit not getting a raise this school year but I am uncertain. I have seen wages frozen for 4 yrs in some locations before we unionized the site.
