Durham School Services: The Facts

Durham School Services is the second largest private school bus company operating in the United States, and second largest in Canada.  The Teamsters represent Durham employees in several US locations, including Charleston, South Carolina, Iowa City, Iowa, Bloomington, Illinois, Worchester, Massachusetts and Albany, New York. The bulk of Teamster members at Durham work for Stock Transportation, Durham School Services' sister subsidiary in Canada.

As is typical in this industry Durham has consistently violated school bus workers’ freedom to form a union. Despite strong annual profits the company has a record of low pay and benefits and harsh working conditions. Many Durham workers recognize the need for unionization.

Durham workers deserve the same respect other school bus workers are beginning to enjoy, and the Teamsters will continue to fight to get these hard working indivduals the recognition and benefits they deserve.
